About the Role
We are currently seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team, supporting a client in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Cranbourne, VIC.
In this role, you will provide person-centered support to assist with daily living activities, personal care, and supporting independence in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living assistance
- Perform safe manual handling, including wheelchair transfers, pivot transfers using hand/grab techniques, and use of a slide board
- Support safe mobility and transfers following best practice procedures
- Assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, light cleaning, and laundry
- Support clients with diabetes management, including monitoring and responding to changes in condition
- Administer subcutaneous medications using pre-filled pens/syringes where trained and authorised
- Encourage independence and participation in community activities
- Support clients with mental health needs, promoting emotional wellbeing
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow individual care plans
- Ensure the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of the client at all times
Essential Requirements
- Experience or training in Manual Handling, including wheelchair transfers, pivot transfers, and slide board use
- Experience with Hoist Transfers
- Knowledge or training in Continence Management
- Experience supporting diabetes management
- Competency in administering subcutaneous injections using pre-filled pens/syringes (in line with training and policies)
- Experience assisting with Meal Preparation
- Experience in Personal Care and Hygiene
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desirable
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field
- Previous experience in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment
- Nursing background or relevant clinical experience
